Were in this journey together, and were all sinners, its not our place to judge, but to help. Imagine you’re sitting there and your heart tugs and you have just disappointed God, again. It takes over your body, your mind, and you’re not alone. It’s despicable, but it’s condoned. What’s the hurt you say, but you feel disgusted. You feel happy for a moment, but fear you have failed God, your family, and your friends. This is not you and you know it, but seemed like a good idea at the time. You have an addiction my friend, and you simply cannot let it go. It hurt, but if feels good, it’s right, but let’s be honest it’s so wrong. You try to put a control, but you fail. It’s a never ending battle, but if you feel like you open up about it you’re going to either lose peoples respect or lose their trust. You think they will turn their back on you and what you stand for. You want to stop so badly, but it’s not happening, you’re desperate, but simply can’t see help. You pray, but you ignore the ways to fix this even though God is leading you to it. It has lead you to countless desperate acts, and you become desensitized to society. However, there is hope my friends, but the first thing we must do is admit it’s a problem, and an epidemic facing our society. It’s become your personal ecstasy, but its leading you down and unrighteous path. Pornography is a problem far too many men face today. Now I know many of you are turned off by this because it’s become a norm in our society, but why? Why are we accepting this as sexually explicit things are in our mailboxes, fingertips, phones, computers, TV’s, magazine shelves, it’s everywhere looking to lure you in. It’s something that people go to fill a hole of self-pleasure, loneliness, boredom, and a variety of other things. Some of you may be in a relatively mild stage others may be in a much darker place, but have no fear for our God is with us. We can defeat this temptation and become the men we are supposed to be. However, we cannot do this alone, this is a journey, and it is a challenging one too, but the results will be rewarding.
“Understand as Christians there is no sin that you can confess to that our God has not forgiven you for. God already knows what you have done. He made you imperfect. It may be hard to admit, but admit you’re wrong, reach out to Him, and He will give you His grace, we can not be perfect, but we can be clean. Humility is needed in our walk as Christians. Addiction does not define us, its out action we take following it that does. Do we sit down and lose or do we get up and walk with our God, walk with our peers, and walk with our families to Victory?”
Understand not everyone who views pornography becomes addicted, but many still come away with toxic ideas and a skewed view of reality. Even if you casually view porn you could benefit from this coming series of articles I will be writing.
Five Stages of Addiction:
- Early Exposure
- Acting Out Sexually
Keep in mind you are not alone in some of the numbers above clearly prove this, but they also prove we have a problem in today’s society as well.
